Northland’s Award Winning Pet Photographer

Hi, I’m Shelly, a pet photographer based in the beautiful coastal town of Whangarei, Northland. My love for animals began long before I picked up a camera.

I grew up on a dairy farm in a small Northland town, surrounded by animals and the busy days of country life. From an early age, animals were part of my world. That connection has continued throughout my life; for the past 26 years, I’ve worked as a veterinary nurse caring for animals, and for 15 years as a photographer, winning awards both in New Zealand and overseas.

My nursing career has given me a deep understanding of animals, their personalities and their individual needs and most importantly, an appreciation for just how precious our time with them really is.

As a Veterinary nurse, I’ve seen the special bond between pets and their families; that experience is a big part of why pet photography means so much to me. I love to capture who your pets are, their personality, expression and the special connection you share.

The beach is my happy place. Growing up in Northland gave me a deep love of the outdoors, and the beach holds a special place in my heart.
